It’s hard to stay healthy at home, especially when the fridges are stocked with food due to COVID-19. My case is a little different because ever since February 13th i’ve been fasting which is something most Ethiopian Orthodox Christians do. Fasting involves the abstention of animal products (meat, dairy, and eggs), you are not allowed to eat or drink before 3:00 pm, and are to consume only one meal a day. It is known as the strictest of any church, that is why I don’t participate in some of the fasting regulations. Now that I'm in quarantine it is easier to start to eat after 3 o’clock versus waking up early every day for school, so I tend to do that now. Ever since school ended I don’t really eat meals anymore, it’s just snacks throughout the day which is why I don’t participate in the one meal a day rule.

I recorded my calorie intake and expenditure on Wednesday, April 15. I gained 350 calories and burned 404, which I don’t think is healthy. I have to find a way to make balanced meals with the food I currently have. Another thing helping me stay healthy are the activities I’m doing. I get bored easily so i’ve been seeking activities to do during this quarantine. I didn’t know the NTI days could contribute to calories being burnt. The process of NTI days and finding new activities along the way is a major factor of staying healthy for me. The fact that I’m fasting

is a big part of staying healthy, although it ends at the end of the week on April 19th. I’m going to try to lay off meat during quarantine because there are little activities to do versus if I was allowed to go outside. That is how I’m currently staying healthy and how I would like to remain that way during quarantine.
